Your gear lands in front of skating parents who know what they need — not lost in a feed of random items.
Payment is held safely until your buyer’s return window closes; from there you can withdraw to your bank anytime from your Stripe dashboard. No risky cash handoffs, no surprise chargebacks weeks later.
Print one label, drop it off, get paid. More time at the rink, less time at the post office.
That’s the short version. Read on for the full walkthrough, or jump in now.
Sign up with your email — that’s all you need to start. From there you can browse the marketplace, message sellers, and build your first listing.
From the marketplace, click Sell to start a new listing. You can publish right away — payout setup isn’t required to go live. If a buyer purchases before you’ve set up payouts, we’ll hold the payment safely until your payout account is connected.
Axelnest is built for figure-skating gear and apparel. That includes:
Items should be clean, in good working condition, and clearly described. Heavily worn blades, broken equipment, or non-skating items aren’t a fit for Axelnest.
You can list and even publish before this step — but to receive your earnings, you’ll connect a bank account to receive payouts. Setup takes about 5 minutes and only happens once.
We use Stripe to handle payouts — the same payments platform behind Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Substack, and millions of other businesses worldwide. Stripe is built specifically to move money safely between strangers on a marketplace — exactly the problem Axelnest solves for skating gear.
Your sensitive details stay with Stripe. Axelnest never sees your tax ID or bank account — only Stripe does, behind the same bank-grade encryption that protects millions of businesses. The information Stripe collects is the same set required by U.S. tax law for any platform that pays out money; we can’t waive it, but it stops with them. Read more on the Trusted Sellers page.
Your listing publishes and stays live without a payout account — but if a buyer pays before you’ve finished setup, their card is only held (not charged) while we wait for you. You’ll get 72 hours from the moment of sale to complete payout setup through Stripe; after that, the sale auto-refunds and the listing is paused until you’re ready.
In short: setting up now means you never have to scramble against a 72-hour clock when a sale comes in. It’s about 5 minutes — do it once and you’re set for every future sale.
Stripe collects the details required to issue payouts and report earnings:
Stripe may send a confirmation email — if you don’t see it within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
Once you finish, your Marketplace Account → Payments page may briefly show “Your payment account is currently disabled.” This is normal for a brand-new account — Stripe runs an automatic review behind the scenes. Open your Stripe dashboard from the Payments card, complete any items listed under Tasks, and the review usually clears on its own within 24 hours.
When a buyer purchases your item you’ll get an email notification. From your seller dashboard:
Tracking is shared with the buyer automatically the moment you print — you don’t have to copy-paste anything.
Shipping cost is covered by the buyer. The buyer pays the shipping rate at checkout; you just print the label. You never front the cost out of pocket.
Once the carrier marks the item as delivered (or, for local pickup, once the buyer confirms receipt), a 3-day return window starts. If the buyer doesn’t request a return during that window, the order completes and your earnings are available in your Stripe balance — withdraw to your bank account anytime from your Stripe dashboard.
If there’s no delivery scan after 14 days, our team will reach out to help resolve it. You can track everything — sales, payouts, history — from your Stripe dashboard, linked from Marketplace Account → Payments.
The held-payment flow is the same protection that makes buyers comfortable paying upfront. Read the full mechanics on Protected Transaction.
No hidden costs, no surprises. Two fees come out of each sale — everything else is yours.
| Platform fee | 6% of the listing price, with a $1.99 minimum per item sold. This keeps Axelnest running and funds the tools that make your skating life easier. |
|---|---|
| Payment processing | Stripe’s standard card fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Set by Stripe; applies to all card payments. |
Shipping isn’t a fee you pay. The buyer pays the shipping cost at checkout — it never comes out of your payout. You just print the label.
When setting your price, factor in the platform fee and the Stripe processing fee so your final payout reflects what you actually want to earn. Your seller dashboard shows your estimated payout before you publish, so there are no surprises.
Buyers have 3 days from delivery to request a return for items that arrive damaged, are not as described, or are the wrong item. Once you approve the return, the buyer prints a return label and ships it back; you’ll be refunded once it’s received in original condition. See Hassle-Free Returns for the full eligibility list.
Yes — you can update photos, description, or price from your seller dashboard at any time before the item sells. If you need to take a listing down, use the Delete action; sold listings are archived automatically.
Every seller completes full Stripe identity verification (name, address, tax ID, bank account) before any sale payment is released to them. You can list right away — verification is required by the time a buyer purchases. Read more on Trusted Sellers.
