Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect the information you give us.

1. Overview

Axelnest is a community platform for figure skaters and their families. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Axelnest you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account data: email address, password (hashed), or Google account identifier when you sign up.
• Profile data: name, phone, date of birth, display name, optional avatar.
• Marketplace data: listings you post (title, description, photos, price, condition, category), shipping address (for sellers), and buyer/seller messages.
• Reviews: ratings and written feedback you leave on completed orders.
• Skater profiles: for each skater you add to your account, a first name or nickname and an avatar. Any other profile details are optional and up to you — for example, basic personal details (such as full name or date of birth), skating details (such as level, club, coach, or skating-organization membership number), a short description or interests, and an emergency contact, which is a parent’s or guardian’s, not the child’s. Skater profiles are created and controlled by the account holder (see Section 9). A skater profile can also be you, if you are an adult skater training for yourself.
• Off-ice training data: routines and exercises entered by you (or entered by you on behalf of a coach) — names, timings, notes, and attribution labels — plus practice schedules and each skater’s practice activity: sessions completed, minutes practiced, streaks, and badges earned.
• Exercise photos: photos you attach to exercises as movement reminders. Photos are resized on your device before upload, which removes embedded camera metadata such as location, and are stored at unguessable public web addresses so they can display in the training app.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device, and pages visited, collected through standard server and analytics logs.
• In-app activity events: inside Off-Ice Buddy we record simple events in our own database — for example, that a session was started, a routine was created, or a theme was chosen — linked to your account and, where relevant, to the skater profile in use. We use them only to run and improve the app; they are not shared with advertisers or analytics companies.
• Local storage: small amounts of data kept in your browser to remember sign-in state, current page, and form drafts.

Information from third parties

• Google sign-in: when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email, and profile photo as permitted by your Google account.
• Stripe: when you sell or buy, Stripe shares limited transaction metadata (such as payment confirmation, payout status, and last four digits of payment methods). Full card numbers are never sent to or stored by Axelnest.
• Shippo: when shipping labels are purchased we receive tracking numbers and delivery status updates.

3. How We Use Information

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• Process marketplace transactions (payment, shipping, payouts, returns).
• Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, password resets, security notices).
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized activity.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal data. We share information only as follows:

Sharing with your coach: you may link your skater to a coach on Axelnest. This is always your action — you enter the coach’s code, review a disclosure screen describing exactly what will be shared, and the coach then approves the request. A linked coach can see your skater’s name and avatar, and — for the routines that coach assigns — when your skater completes them and how long each took. That is effort information only: no scores or comparisons. A coach never sees your skater’s streaks or badges, your other routines, schedules, uploaded photos, or account details. Routines a coach assigns are viewed from the coach’s account — they are not copied to yours and remain the coach’s content. You can disconnect a coach at any time, which immediately ends their access. We record when you consented and the version of the disclosure you accepted.

Spoken cues: Off-Ice Buddy reads exercise names and notes aloud using your device’s built-in text-to-speech. We prefer voices that run on the device. On some browsers a voice is provided over the network by the browser’s maker (for example, Google in Chrome); when such a voice is in use, the text being spoken is sent to that company to produce the audio.

In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you and apply this Privacy Policy to the transferred data unless you agree otherwise.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

Axelnest uses browser local storage to remember your sign-in session, current page, and small preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. Some embedded third-party services (Stripe, Google) may set their own cookies as required for their function.

6. Data Storage & Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Supabase’s infrastructure with row-level security policies that scope access to the appropriate user. We follow industry-standard practices, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data while your account is active. To delete your account or a skater profile, email support@axelnest.com from the address on your account. We will delete or de-identify the personal data within 30 days — for a skater profile, that includes all of its practice history and the exercise photos in its routines, and any related in-app activity events are de-identified — unless we are required to retain it for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, Stripe transaction records).

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@axelnest.com from the email address associated with your account.

9. Children’s Privacy

Some parts of Axelnest — in particular the Off-Ice Buddy training app — are designed for families to use together with skaters who may be under 13. Those surfaces are built around parental control:

• Accounts belong to adults. Every account holder must be 18 or older. Children do not create accounts or sign in. A parent or legal guardian creates skater profiles inside their own account, provides all profile information, and controls it entirely.
• We collect what the parent chooses to give. Only a first name or nickname and an avatar are needed for a skater profile; every other profile detail described in Section 2 is optional. The training app adds practice activity (sessions completed, minutes practiced, streaks, and badges) and the in-app activity events described in Section 2. We do not collect a child’s own contact information, precise location, or browsing profile.
• No ads or third-party trackers on kid-facing screens. The training app’s kid-facing pages carry no advertising and load no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Beyond the practice activity described above, the only thing they record is the in-app activity events kept in our own database.
• Parents stay in control. A parent can review and edit a skater profile from their account at any time. To delete a skater profile — including all of its practice history — email us at the address below and we will do so within 30 days.
• Sharing with a coach is the parent’s choice. A coach sees a skater’s name and avatar, and completions of the routines that coach assigned, only after the parent explicitly links and approves that coach (see Section 4), and the parent can disconnect the coach at any time, ending access immediately.

Axelnest accounts are not directed to children: you must be 18 or older to create one, and skaters under 18 use Axelnest only through a skater profile in their parent’s or guardian’s account. If you believe a child has created an account or provided us personal information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Users

Axelnest is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. where our servers and providers are located.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material we will notify you (for example, by email or an in-app banner) before it takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision.
